New Book

I have just began reading this book this past week. I already recommend it. It is not a difficult read as I find most of Pipers books but it will convict. I was agreeing with Noel in the forward as she said, "the first 25 years are the hardest." I hope to learn much from this excellent book! Thanks Cbass!

In love

Levi looked pretty handsome at church this past Sunday and as I was putting his clothes away the other day I told him so. He said, "Yeah, I looked really good. Alysha fell in love with me all over again." I said, "Really?" He said, "Yeah, but it didn't last too long because then she dumped me."

Bedtime!

Libs is high maintenance at bedtime. She has to pick out her jammies, read, pray, nightlight, and mask!

Huh?

Too funny. Levi was nonchalantly walking by the Monday night football game last week chomping on an apple. He looked up at the tv and saw a row of black football players on the sidelines. He finished chewing and remarked, "Huh, I see Obama's playing football now," and walked away.

Jace is big!

Jace was so cute tonight! When I was walking out of his room I said, "How'd you like the rearranging of your room?" He said, "I liked it. My closet looked so empty." I had gotten rid of a bunch of his "kid toys." I said, "It looks so nice." He said as I was walking away, "I'm big. I'm getting big too fast. I want to stay young!" I thought it was so funny because I NEVER wanted to stay little. I always wanted to grow up quick! NOW, of course, I wanna start over and change my whole life!

Relax people!

Why Obama May Not Be the Antichrist

by Michael Mckinley

In the past week and a half, I have been fielding more than my normal number of questions from people about the antichrist. It seems that the election results have gone in ways that make some Christians fear that the end times are upon us and evil is making its climactic rise to challenge the authority of God.

Now first let me say that, as much as I am sinfully tempted to snigger at people who see the Book of Revelation under every rock, Christians certainly need to be wise and watchful as they live in a fallen world. So maybe the president-elect is the antichrist. But then again, maybe Tony Romo is. Time will tell. As an Eagles fan, you know which way I'm leaning.

Here's what I think about the question, though:

I don't know if Obama is a Christian or not. If he's not, then he's antichrist in the sense that anyone who is not for Jesus is against him (Luke 11:23). But then so is my next door neighbor who smokes pot in his garage until 5:00 AM on Sunday mornings. Whether or not the president-elect is for Jesus or against him isn't my call to make.

But more importantly, this question seems to take a very America-centric view of eschatology. Monsters like Hitler, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, and Josef Stalin have all risen and fallen and have not been the harbinger of the end times. But this guy wants to socialize our health care, and Jesus is supposed to be so enraged that he will come storming back to save us?

Please. The Christian faith is doing great. Christ's church is being built. The gospel is exploding in other parts of the world. It's not the end of the world... just because you think America's going down the tubes or because you don't like the guy elected to lead one branch of the government for the next four years.

If you're struggling... just take a deep breath, put down your copy of Left Behind, and pray for the president-elect.

Halloween Party!

Levi is so funny

This morning I went into his room to wake him up for church and he rolled over and said, "I didn't order a wake-up call."

In the car I said to Jace, "Maybe you could be a caveman for Halloween." Levi said, "Dumb. Then he has to put his feet on backwards and just drag a bat on the ground."

Next on dancing with the stars....

I'm voting democrat becuz...

Why I'm voting Democrat:

I'm voting democrat because Barbara Walters is my idol and so is P.Diddy.

I'm voting Democrat because English has no place being the official language in America.

I'm voting Democrat because I'd rather pay $4 for a gallon of gas than allow drilling for oil off the coasts of America.

I'm voting Democrat because I think the government will do a better job of spending my money than I could.

I'm voting Democrat because when we pull out of Afghanistan and Iraq, I know the Islamic terrorists will stop trying to kill us because they'll think we're a good and decent country.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe people who can't tell us if it will
rain in two or three days, can now tell us the polar ice caps will
disappear in ten years if I don't start riding a bicycle, build a windmill or inflate my tires to proper levels.

I'm voting Democrat because it's alright to kill millions of babies as
long as we keep violent, convicted murderers on death row alive.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe businesses in America should not be
allowed to make profits. Businesses should just break even and give the
rest to the government so politicians and bureaucrats can redistribute the money the way they think it should be redistributed.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe guns, and not the people misusing them, are the cause of crimes and killings.

I'm voting Democrat because when someone with a weapon threatens my family or me, I know the government can respond faster through a call to 911 than I can with a gun in my hand.

I'm voting Democrat because oil companies' 5% profit on a gallon of gas are obscene, but government taxes of 18% on the same gallon of gas are just fine.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe three or four elitist liberals should rewrite the Constitution every few months to suit some fringe element that could never get their agenda past voters.

I'm voting Democrat because illegal aliens are not criminals, are not sucking up resources through government aid, hospital services, education,
or social services, but are just people trying to make a better life by coming to America illegally. We can't blame them for that, can we?

I'm voting Democrat because the same teacher that didn't teach my child to read can reasonably educate them about sex.

I'm voting Democrat because my trial lawyer's crippling multi-million dollar lawsuits against doctors, hospitals, drug companies, and HMO's will make health insurance and medicine much more affordable.

I'm voting Democrat because Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan, and Jesse Jackson will end racism once and for all.

I'm voting Democrat because Christians in the Republican Party are intolerant, theocratic warmongers and atheists like William Ayers have never hurt anybody.

I'm voting Democrat so that no family member of mine will die in a hospital bed. They will still be waiting in line for Obama's socialized medicine, so they will never actually make it into a hospital bed.

I'm voting Democrat because I like eminent domain and big business and government kicking me out of my home and taking my land.

I'm voting Democrat because everyone knows that raising taxes at the top won't hurt people at the bottom.

I'm voting Democrat because skin color and good oratory skills are more important than judgment and experience.

I'm voting Democrat because protecting barren wasteland is more important than energy indepedence.

I'm voting Democrat because my college professor told me that America is evil and should give up its place in the world.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that Cuba, Russia, and China should be on the United Nations Human Rights Council.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that everyone is essentially good -- even people like Ahmadinejad who call for the destruction of Israel. He just needs a little understanding.

I'm voting Democrat because we should all be forced to drive ugly cars with the horsepower of a riding lawnmower.

I am voting Democrat because I believe in change; although I don't know WHAT the change will be, or HOW it will happen, AND I am pretty sure that I won't WANT to actually change anything I do, but still....I believe in change.

I'm voting Democrat because the government knows how to raise children better than parents do.

I'm voting Democrat because I want the rich to work harder, give me their money, and pay for my services so I don't have to.

I'm voting Democrat because I don't give to charity or do volunteer work and then I complain about how selfish everyone else is.

I'm voting Democrat because I've seen welfare help so many poor people become self-sufficient and upwardly mobile.

I'm voting Democrat because I'm not driven enough to realize my dreams without the government holding my hand the entire way.

I'm voting Democrat because I want America to be Europe's prosthetic limb.

I'm voting Democrat because I think we all should be equal...equally unhappy and unsuccessful.

I'm voting Democrat because life just isn't fair and I deserve what other people have without working for it.

I'm voting Democrat because I like hearing the word "Change" 50 million times in presidential debate, seeing the word on celebrities' t-shirts and bags, on signs outside of million dollar houses, and know that the only change that is going to happen is that I'm going to work 40 hours a week and not even see a penny of my paycheck because taxes will go through the roof!!! YAY!!!!

I'm voting Democrat because Barack Obama is better than you, and he knows it!

I'm voting Democrat because I like how democrats can cause financial crises' like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and have the temerity to blame them on Republicans.

I'm voting Democrat because Obama was endorsed by Hamas and terrorists endorsements are a must to achieve world peace.

I am voting Democrat since I believe those who are lazy, druggies, high school drop outs, etc. should be entitled to the money I wake up every morning and work my ass off to make!

I'm voting Democrat because fire can't melt steel.

I'm voting Democrat because for some reason "change, change, change"..is the mantra for the obama camp...so, since he won't explain what 'change' is...i guess he's asking for parking meter fare?...i have three quarters in my wallet.

Im voting democrat because it's the COOL thing to do. I'm hip and in the majority.

Im voting Democrat because I listen to and believe all the celebrities/actors who so passionately want Obama to win because I can't think for myself at all. The same celebrities who WE make rich because we GO SEE their movies and watch their T.V. shows put millions of dollars into their pockets! but...these multi-million dollar celebs are so disheartened by AMERICAN ways and the capitalistic economy we have and the world will come to and end if another Republican comes into office...hmmmmm...

I'm voting Democrat because I'm a dumbass and because "Hillary said so"

I'm voting Democrat because I won't be subjected to any criteria for meeting U.S. terrorists and having a cool-aid with any of them, and one last critical factor.

I'm voting Democrat because of the War on Terror. We have not been attacked once since Sept. 11, 2001, and that was caused by Bill Clinton, but I still don't feel safe.

I'm voting Democrat because communist economics always work. Look how well off the Soviet Union is right now. That wall in Berlin has never looked better.

I'm voting Democrat because I agree with Joe Biden, that it really is patriotic to pay more taxes. So I'm going to pay a "direct tax." Instead of wasting time giving it to the government for redistribution, I will give my money to derelicts who loiter outside of liquor stores and methadone clinics. That's where it ends up anyway. YES WE CAN ... screw up this country like never before.

Dimitri

Will they ever get along?

I remember when I was growing up and thinking how I HATED my sister! I was NEVER going to be friends with her. EVER! She made my life miserable. She was such a tattle tail and a nerd! I was so cool and doing all the things she SHOULD have been doing. As I look back I am thankful she was the way she was. I probably would have been worse (imagine that mom)if there were such a thing as "what if's."

Jace and Levi get a long good for the most part. They get along like brothers. Jace bosses Levi around and Levi bosses Liberty around. Liberty bosses us around, you know. Today they were both telling me how much they hated each other. They were both crying and stating how much they didn't want to be around each other. Jace said, "You have ruined my life. I hate you!" Levi ran off crying and came back and said, "Did you mean that because when you said that I had a heart attack in my room!" Listening to them reminds me of the way my sister and I yelled at each other. I'm hoping someday they will appreciate each other and be great friends. I'm hoping they will call each other, laugh a lot, and remember the "Cain and Abel" days and laugh like we do. In the meantime I'll just be praying they make it there. I think I hear laughter already! :o)

Madison

Levi has been telling me about this girl he is in love with at the Y named Madison for about a year. Friday I finally met her. She's a cutie. Blonde, tall, looks down her nose, you know the type. She also looks about a year older than him. As we were walkin out I said, "Madisons a cutie." He gave "the double-armed-forward-forward" if ya know what I mean and said, "Yeah, she's a hot one."

More of Levi

Levi had a couple scratches on his arm from the cat and we decided to ask him why. He said, "I taught the cat something today." Yikes. "What?" we asked. "I taught her how to do a handstand, a somersault, and a flip!" "Judging by the scratches on your arm I don't think she liked it so much,"dad said. He said, "Actually, I think she kind of enjoyed it." Mmmnnn...that must be why she has been running in terror whenever she sees her "gymnastics coach." Poor kitty.

Cats

Dear cat lovers,
Is it "normal" when cats go outside the box? Literally. Why? How can we stop this from occurring again?

Fun!

Uncle Steven is so much fun! He came over to babysit the other night and it was pouring. He had the kids go outside with him, in their clothes, and dance in the rain! Now, moms NEVER do this kind of stuff because they find it annoying and a mess! But UNCLES, they are lotsa fun! Thanks Steven for bringing on the fun!

Homecoming!

Levi is making a chain to keep track of how many days before Matt and Dana come home! There are 65 days from this day! We are trying to decide where to keep it....

Can you hear him?

Last night Levi was in watching me fold some clothes and he said. "I'm a Vegan." I said, "Really?" He said, "Do you even know what a Vegan is mom?" I said, "Yes,do you?" He said, "Yeah, it's from Barnyard (the movie)." He then quoted it, "He's a Vegan. God bless 'em."

Levi is always rattling movie lines off. It's so funny. He's witty and cracks me up!
Here's another:

Laying in bed the other night I walked by and he says, "Mom, there's just an empty space in my heart." I said, "Goodnight Stuart."

If you don't know kid movies and can't hear the tone of his voice this may not make any sense to you but if you do it's funny!

State Fair

I guess I have to admit stealing from Carla but.....what a great idea!
Some MORE thoughts on the state fair.

1. I don't want to see your pubic line OR your T-bar. I am not interested in my children viewing them either.
2. You KDWB groupies need to get a life-especially if you are 45.
3. Can I please see more tatoos? They're not just for Carnys anymore. Piercings?
4. The cardboard cut-out of Obama is scary but even scarier when you place your toddler next to it for pictures. Don't make an idiot of your poor child.
5. Machinery hill? Could we get at least one good food stand over there so I have someting to eat for 3 hours?
6. Please look at my face and not at my chest. Sick.
7. I don't want to play your overpriced midway games. Baby.
8. 3 foot long corndogs $18?!!!!!! No honey, there are better deals.
9. The yellow slide is a must.
10. I am glad we bring the kids but going alone is a blessing as well. NEVER bring your kids to the fair on a weekend. NEVER.

Go McCain!

I didn't know if I should go for just a normal photo for promoting McCain or for the total p.o.w. approach. Either way, she'a a cute little supporter! She was a cute one (and excited!) back when she was voting for Dubya as well!

Sweet!

Libs got a new bike early for her upcoming birthday! She was about to outgrow her previous one and it didn't help that Levi sat on it and busted off the training wheels. New training wheels almost cost as much as a new bike! Pete picked her out this beauty and she loves it! She can ride it real fast!

Cruisin!

Steven and Jamie invited us on an excellent pontoon on the St Croix on Monday. It was quite excellent! The weather was perfect and we loved cruisin' the river! Thank you Steven and Jamie for inviting on this awesome ride!
