CH Spurgeon
"If some men were sentenced to hear their own sermons, it would be a righteous judgment upon them; but they would soon cry out to God, 'My punishment is greater than I can bear!'"
How true! Some things that pass as sermons are sad. I have been reading a biogrpahy on CHS and have come to realize how preachers are no longer gospel preachers. I mean how often have you heard a preacher really plead with people from the pulpit to come to Christ? Plead with people and then really warn them of the consrquence of their rejection of Christ. It seems more of a just a mention than a deep and dire plea these days compared to the way CHS pleaded with people and warned them. How sad.
